New Lotus Emeya 2026 first look | ShortsCars

This isn’t your parent’s Lotus. The British maker, once famous for ultra-lightweight sportscars that had no room for creature comforts like air conditioning, heated seats, or even doors, is now part of the Geely family, with designs on a big international presence with big sales.

The Emeya is a four-door sedan with a swoopy, coupe-like profile, comfortably seating four and, Lotus says, offering somewhere around 300 miles of range from a 102kWh battery pack. That’s quite good range for a car that will offer up to 905 horsepower and that can sprint from 0 - 60 mph in less than 2.8 seconds. Quick, yes, but as a grand tourer, the idea is comfort and luxury, and that the Emeya has in spades. But will it be good enough to convert the Lotus faithful? That we won’t know until sometime in 2024, when this enters production.

IMFO
The 2025 Lotus Emeya is a fully electric hyper-GT designed to deliver both extreme performance and long-distance capability. Powered by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a dual-motor setup, the Emeya produces up to 918 bhp in its top-spec R variant, while the standard and Emeya S trims generate around 611 PS (594 bhp). With a top speed of 260 km/h and a blistering 0-100 km/h time of under 2.8 seconds for the Emeya R, this electric GT blends hypercar acceleration with grand touring comfort. It also boasts an impressive WLTP-certified range of up to 610 km, ensuring usability beyond just performance.

Charging technology is another highlight, with support for ultra-fast 400 kW DC charging. This allows the Emeya to recharge from 10% to 80% in just about 14 minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging EVs in its class. Such efficiency, combined with cutting-edge battery technology, positions the Emeya as a practical long-range luxury EV without compromising on its hypercar-level performance. This mix of speed, range, and charging convenience makes it a compelling option in the high-performance EV segment.

The design and interior of the Lotus Emeya emphasize both aerodynamics and luxury. It features active aero elements such as a dynamic front grille, a rear diffuser, and an active rear spoiler for enhanced performance and stability. Inside, the cabin offers sustainable materials, seating for five, and advanced tech, including a 15.1-inch central touchscreen, a massive 55-inch heads-up display, and an immersive KEF Uni-Q surround sound system. The car runs on Lotus HyperOS for infotainment, supports wireless charging, and comes equipped with a 360-degree camera along with a full suite of ADAS features, combining futuristic luxury with cutting-edge safety and connectivity.

- This was supposed to be the king of Geely sedans, but they just announced the Zeekr 001 FR. The Emeya still looks better than the Zeekr though.
- no mention of the black side camera rubbish sticking out like a sore thumb? suspicious
- This is not a Lotus... it's a car with the Lotus badge that was bought.... same as MG. I'm not saying it's bad but it's not a Lotus and it's not an MG
