In designing ELO, in addition to retaining an electrical architecture, particular attention was paid to the sustainability of materials, limiting the number of parts and mass.
All materials have been designed to meet the multiple uses intended for the ELO, while incorporating current environmental requirements. The second-row seat backrest upholstery is made from a durable, easy-to-clean material that is perfectly suited to leisure use: it is wear-resistant and can withstand water and repeated handling.
The driver's seat illustrates a simplification approach designed to reduce the number of parts. ELO also features a durable, washable felt developed by the brand's Colours & Materials department and manufactured in France, near Lille. This material is made from surplus fabrics and components used for the Oli concept car presented in 2022. Once shredded, these scraps were transformed into sheets used to manufacture the various storage boxes on board. This eco-responsible approach is extended to the choice of interior upholstery: a plasticised material that is easy to maintain, durable and gives ELO a colourful touch.
On either side of the driver's seat is expanded polypropylene, the same material used by Decathlon for its bicycle helmets. Composed of 30% recycled materials and fully recyclable, it is also used on the lower part of the bumpers. This very lightweight material is used on the flat surfaces of the four wings. This protection, identical in shape and composition, is also found on the rear bumper, a choice that limits the number of body parts and helps to reduce the vehicle's weight.
GOODYEAR: This partnership has become a tradition on Citroën concepts: from the centenary concept car 19_19, to autonomous urban mobility concepts (2020) with the Eagle 360 multidirectional tire featuring eight embedded motors, and in 2022, the Oli concept car equipped with the intelligent Eagle GO tire.
True to its purpose, ELO is fitted with tires designed for leisure and outdoor activities. It continues the collaboration with Goodyear, becoming the fourth Citroën concept car equipped with smart tires. Whatever the terrain, these tires suit daily use and occasional off-road escapes.
These are intelligent tires thanks to the Goodyear SightLine suite of technologies – able to measure pressure and wear in real time, monitored via a dedicated app. An LED integrated into the rim indicates correct pressure (green LED) or underinflation (red LED). The tire tread is engineered to support ELO’s versatile activities, incorporating a robust design to deliver traction and unleash unforgettable experiences—perfectly aligned with ELO’s adventurous DNA and spirit of exploration. A distinctive orange tire sidewall pays tribute to ELO’s joyful spirit, adding a bold design signature to the tire. The rim is conventional in structure but its design flows into the tire for a cohesive look, offering a bold visual break. Its graphic treatment is based on a smooth hexagonal honeycomb pattern, enhancing aerodynamics.
Ben Glesener, Senior Technology Director Goodyear: “We are thrilled to collaborate again with Citroën on this visionary project. At Goodyear, every innovation starts with the customer, and the Eagle Xplore concept tire is engineered to elevate the driving experience. Powered by Goodyear SightLine, it delivers real-time data directly to the vehicle, while an LED sidebar on the rim provides instant feedback on tire pressure. This smart integration ensures the tire adapts seamlessly to ELO’s versatile configurations, turning mobility into a connected, intuitive experience”.

- There are good ideas in there, but why do they have to distract with all the silly stuff, that'll never make the real world regs?- Question is ... how does it fit on Stellantis's Smart Car platform? And so endeth the prospects of this interesting concept ever making production. I don't think the public is ready for it in any case.
- The exterior design is a mindblowing mess of random lines, curves and details, no matter the interesting basics of the concept.
