This edition focuses on BMW Automotive Health, a research initiative that goes beyond mobility as we know it. In the future, cars won’t just drive; they will actively support our health, safety and everyday performance as well.
Daniel’s guests include Sergej Holzmann and Matthias Franz from BMW Development, and Professor Alexander Meyer from the Charité University Hospital in Berlin. They will share insights from a study with over 120 participants that examines how medical-grade health data can be generated on the road in a BMW 7 Series – contactlessly and through seamlessly integrated systems within the vehicle architecture.
Our experts in this edition are: Sergej Holzmann, Development Driver Assistance / Health Monitoring
Matthias Franz, Project Manager Automotive Health
Professor Alexander Meyer of the Charité Berlin, Institute of AI in Clinical Medicine

- I get why BMW is doing this but - and I cannot emphasize this enough - I do not want any car manufacturer to have my health data! Not even aircraft manufacturers are collecting pilots health data. This is the responsibility of medical professionals!- 🤦♂ Sorry for the blunt comment, but I really wish BMW would spend more time improving the iDrive interface instead of trying to compete with an Apple Watch. Maybe this new health feature can measure how much muscle effort is required just to operate iDrive and perform what used to be simple tasks—like adjusting the fan speed. The iD8.5 on my i4 is worse than the iD8 I had on my previous 320i, and even the iD6 on the F30 I owned before that felt more intuitive. Please focus!
- Health Data collection is worth millions to corporations. Stick to building great cars. We already have the cars collecting our driving data.
