On average, a car spends nearly 95% of its time parked, unused. ELO aims to be more than just a means of transport to get from A to B. The world is changing, lifestyles are changing, and everything is accelerating. In a single day, we make multiple, interconnected journeys and activities. Designed to accompany each of these moments, ELO — for rEst, wOrk, pLay — embodies mobility rooted in its era. Spacious, clever and responsible, it redefines the use of time by facilitating not only travel, but also relaxation, leisure and work. ELO thus becomes much more than a vehicle: it is a catalyst for a life in motion.
REST
ELO offers the possibility of waiting before an appointment or while waiting for your children, or simply invites you to imagine desires for elsewhere, for a break or for activities. The space on board is comfortable and pleasant. The seat cushions are thick and allow you to curl up on them. The large glass surfaces provide plenty of light. It can also be transformed into a sleeping space for two people or a cinema room.
ELO carries two mattresses folded in dedicated storage compartments in the boot. The total load volume is therefore not affected by these beds. These mattresses are designed with Decathlon's Dropstitch material, which is inflatable and used in particular for surfboards, kayaks and paddleboards. The two mattresses are removed from their storage compartments, unfolded and inflated using compressed air carried on board the vehicle and accessible via a nozzle located in the vehicle's underbody. The Dropstitch material gives these two beds a rigidity that does not require any special reinforcement to keep them in position once installed in the passenger compartment, while remaining very comfortable.
In this configuration, the rear light capsules inside are transformed into bedside lamps. ELO also incorporates mounting bases from Decathlon paddle boards, originally used to attach the fin, into this area. This accessory has been repurposed here to allow various objects, such as a small overhead projector, to be clipped on. Combined with a retractable projection screen, it allows you to watch a film in complete relaxation, transforming ELO into a welcoming and cosy cocoon. This atmosphere can be enhanced by the large opening in the rear roof, which allows you to enjoy the starry sky to the full.
DECATHLON: Our collaboration with Citroën is built on shared values: innovation and the desire to make mobility accessible in everyday life. Design lies at the heart of this vision. Our designers have put their expertise into this unique project with a clear goal: to completely rethink the layout in order to genuinely improve the user experience. From this approach came ELO, a concept that is both functional and playful, where every storage area has been optimized according to the envisioned sports activities.
“This unprecedented collaboration, an alliance between two French flagships, is built on shared values: design excellence and innovation serving the greatest number. Our design teams have pooled their know-how and expertise to co-create and envision the future together. The ambition is clear: to turn every moment into an opportunity to move. This is how we aim to encourage movement and promote well-being in everyday life,” explains Charles CAMBIANICA, Product Innovation Director at DECATHLON.
PLAY Wherever you go in the ELO, it will be your base camp, offering you endless leisure possibilities.
The Citroën design teams worked together with those at Decathlon to design materials, accessories and scenarios so that this laboratory of ideas perfectly meets your outdoor leisure needs. This collaboration goes far beyond the simple design of durable accessories adapted to the vehicle. For example, the design of the boot opening has been reworked to provide a seat on the sill so you can change your shoes after a hike. Additional bags have been designed for easy storage in the front, and hooks have been added to all four doors so that an awning can be stretched out on either side of the ELO. This awning allows you to extend your outdoor experience while protecting yourself from the sun or bad weather. The designers have made use of all the storage areas according to the activities they had in mind.
The seats in the three rear seats are removable and, once removed, can be used as extra chairs outside for reading or an impromptu picnic. This is a nod to the Citroën 2CV, but also to the Quechua chairs that Decathlon offers in its range.
An integrated compressor inflates accessories like buoys, paddleboards, bike tires or the vehicle tires, enabling multiple leisure activities. ELO is also equipped with V2L technology. This transforms the environment into a veritable base camp, offering the possibility of powering an electric BBQ or a speaker. The four flat areas on the wings, covered with the same material as the front and rear bumper guards, allow you to safely place a glass or plate on them.
WORK
Sorting photos, advancing a personal file, connecting. Digital technology makes us want to be elsewhere. Hybrid working methods have become increasingly popular in recent years, and it is not uncommon to have to connect to a meeting at short notice or to make more permanent arrangements to work from a third location. Whatever your needs, ELO can be transformed into a comfortable mobile office, offering a configuration that takes working to a whole new level.
The driver's seat has a cushion and backrest with different thicknesses and foam densities, adapted to different configurations. It provides the comfort and support needed for driving, while also serving as an office chair when required. It rotates 360° and an easily accessible tablet can be attached to the base, as it is housed under the seat of the central seat in row 2. This tablet can hold a laptop and allow you to complete your tasks with complete peace of mind.
In this configuration, the instrumentation under the windscreen will adapt to relay your video conference, display your meeting schedule and manage your calls. Cleverly integrated pull-out trays in the front inner wheel arches, equipped with cup holders, allow you to store items such as your phone or headphones, enhancing the feeling of being as comfortable as you would be in the office.

- This is a true concept car rather than a stylistic idea pretending to be a concept. The pics appear to show the driver sitting well forward and enjoys panoramic views and ahead of the structural 'A' pillar. If this is the case then it's an ingenious solution to the problem of multiple blind spots suffered in most current cars. But the article mentions nothing about this.- Difficult to see how anyone could possibly think this concept looks like a lunar rover, unless of course, they have never seen a lunar rover. We have a 2016 Citroën C3 Picasso, because my wife is disabled and it makes life easier. The arrangement of A-pillar and windscreen in that works well, with good visibility, taking that a stage further seems like a very good idea. So many cars now are hard to see out of...
I would seriously consider something like this. Get on and build it for goodness sake before I pop my clogs.
