One such innovation is the class-leading Intelli-Lux HD lighting, which was developed by the engineers in Rüsselsheim for Grandland, and is now also used in the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer. As with the new Grandland SUV, more than 50,000 elements in the headlights ensure that
"the road, traffic signs, obstacles and pedestrians are all lit up with breathtaking precision without dazzling other drivers,"
said Rebecca Reinermann.
Light is also the decisive styling element when it comes to the character of the new Astra’s Vizor front face. Mirroring the new Opel Grandland SUV, Astra now features a permanently illuminated front Opel blitz logo and Opel Compass lighting signature.
"Light instead of external chrome elements – which the Astra does not use at all – is an important step on our sustainability journey,"
continued Reinermann. This approach also extends to the interior design. All seats are made from 100% recycled materials and even from the entry-level variant, the patented Intelli-Seats with ergonomic recess in the middle come as standard.
Another customer benefit is the portfolio of Astra powertrains available.
"We offer a wide range of drive alternatives for the new Astra, from an efficient combustion engine to a 48-volt hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, right up to an all-electric version, which now offers even more range than before with up to 454km in accordance with WLTP,"
said Reinermann.
In addition to the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, the Mokka GSE, the fastest battery-electric production Opel and winner of a 2025 Golden Steering Wheel award, is also on show. The new Grandland Electric AWD joins an extended range variant of the new Frontera Electric on the stand, whilst the high-performance Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept car takes pride of place. The concept car underlines Opel's commitment to the important small car segment. According to the latest registration statistics from the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the current Corsa – also on site in Brussels – has now been Germany's best-selling small car for five years in a row. In addition, it was once again the most popular small car in the UK in 2025.

The Vauxhall Astra had been a staple on British roads since the first generation was launched in 1991!
Recently the Astra has slipped under the radar, with buyers choosing the Volkswagen Golf or an SUV instead, the smaller Corsa also outsells the Astra. The latest model released in 2022 is now based on the Stellantis EMP2 platform , also used for the Peugeot 308 for example.
So what’s new? The facelift isn’t a huge change and I already liked the look of the new Astra, some tweaks include an updated front bumper, new wheel designs, AGR comfort seats as standard & some more more tweaks.
I think Opel/Vauxhall have done a good job of putting their own stamp on the Astra, so even though it has shared features and parts with Peugeot and Citroen models, there is still a noticeable Vauxhall look & perhaps a more ergonomic interior than in the equivalent Peugeot.
As before pure petrol, hybrid, PHEV & EV powertrains are offfered with minor tweaks. A manual option still remains too, unlike the 308 and Citroen C4 which are both auto only.

- It always amazes me quite how dull manufacturers make car interiors especially in Europe. Would you like everything in your home to be black or gray? We I guess some do but not everyone.- I have a 2024 Astra, on the touch screen menu you can change the ambient lighting and screen displays to match the exterior colour of your car, or any colour in the Astra colour range. I have a yellow black one but I’ve set all my interior to red.
- I love astra. My family had 3 of them bought new! (G, H and J model) They are very solid cars if you take care of them. If the new astra gets 2.0 turbo engine, I'm going to buy it. Cmon it's 2026 and we need atleast 300 hp especially in a model that had such great sport trims before!
- I currently have an Astra EV and must say it's one of the best cars I've owned. It's quiet, well built and is brilliant to drive. Don't let the rather bland styling put you off taking one for a test drive.
