- Even with a turbocharger, shrinking from a naturally aspirated 1800 cubic centimeters (1994-2001) to a boosted but smaller 1500 cubic centimeters feels like downsizing disguised as progress. A turbocharged 1800cc engine would easily out‑muscle this setup, so the power bump looks more like marketing mathematics than real world performance. Claiming engineering progress is difficult when the 2026 model still relies on a 1.5‑liter displacement that mirrors 1990s engine displacement sizing, because shrinking from a naturally aspirated 1.8L to a boosted 1.5L limits airflow potential, thermal capacity, and peak torque headroom compared to what a turbocharged 1.8L could deliver. What's the best explanation from the manufacturer with a clear engineering explanation for choosing a smaller 1.5L architecture over a more capable turbocharged 1.8L? Which also raises the obvious question: what is the engineering justification for downsizing the engine by -200cc when a turbocharged 1.8L (already sold in the 94-01) would inherently offer greater airflow, thermal margin, and torque potential? The Honda Civic 26' also has the 1.5L turbocharged engine. Why 40k for the 1.5L turbocharged engine in an Integra? The aftermarket was turbocharging the N/A B18C1 for 4.5k-5.5k already and its MSRP was 22k! Today, 22k is worth 42k but the Integra had the 1833cc engine then not 1500cc's of displacement.
