Under the agreement, the rotary-wing unmanned aircraft will operate from three French-built frigates — HS Kimon, HS Nearchos, and HS Formion — forming part of Greece’s expanding maritime surveillance and naval aviation capabilities. The first vessel, HS Kimon, which arrived in Greece in January 2026, is scheduled to receive the CAMCOPTER S-100 system in spring 2026.
According to the company, an additional S-100 system will be operated from land to support crew training and improve operator proficiency. Training for the first Greek CAMCOPTER S-100 crews is expected to be completed in spring 2026.

Apple has hired an attorney specializing in drone and aviation law to act as a lobbyist for the company in Washington, D.C. Lisa Ellman, who leads the UAS practice for the law firm Hogan Lovells, has joined the tech firm. Elllman was also a co-founder of the Commercial Drone Alliance. Her bio on the law firm website says she is "recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on drones and the law." Neither Apple or Ellman would comment on the arrangement. Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100, supported by Three Tis Group, was deployed as a first emergency response providing critical situational information during the Kim Kim river toxic pollution crisis in Malaysia. In March 2019, more than two tons of illegal chemical waste were dumped in the Kim Kim river, which is located near the largest industrial area in the South of Malaysia, Johor Malaysia. As a result, toxic fumes were released throughout the adjoining area affecting more than 6,000 people with many being hospitalised and numerous schools being closed.

A new drone from Autel Robotics was introduced at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The 8K Autel Evo II is billed as a potential "Mavic Killer" by the company. Autel Robotics says that the Evo II will have a standard 7100mAh battery that provides up to 40 minutes of flight time in forward motion or 35 minutes in hover. The drone can be controlled at a range of up to 4.8 nautical miles, and has a dozen computer vision sensors controlled by a dual-core processor and AI machine. - I remember the U.S. Navy had a similar rudimentary design with ASW capabilities in mind during the 1960s. It never really worked out for them and the design was eventually dropped entirely when the Sea Sprite helicopter was adopted by the U.S. Navy.
