This is the new BMW i3 Neue Klasse, and no, it’s not that i3. This is BMW’s first fully electric 3 Series saloon, built on the brand-new Neue Klasse platform, and it could be one of the most important cars the company has ever made.
For decades, the BMW 3 Series has been the backbone of the brand – the car that defined the executive saloon segment and kept company car drivers loyal for generations. Now, as the 3 Series celebrates its 50th anniversary, BMW is betting that its most important model can go fully electric… without losing the driving magic that made it famous.
In this video, Ginny takes you on a detailed walkaround of the new i3, exploring the design, technology and electric performance that promise to redefine BMW’s future.
Highlights include:
Up to 500 miles of potential range
800-volt architecture and ultra-fast charging
BMW’s new Panoramic Vision display
Four onboard “superbrain” computers controlling everything
A completely new Neue Klasse design language
And if early impressions from the BMW iX3 Neue Klasse are anything to go by, this could be the most exciting electric BMW yet.
So the big question is: can the electric i3 live up to the reputation of the legendary 3 Serie

The new fully electric model generation features a sixth-generation eDrive (Gen6). “The BMW i3 applies the sporty sedan’s typical characteristics to a completely new vehicle concept defined by the BMW 3 Series DNA. The control unit consisting of the “superbrain” Heart of Joy and the BMW Dynamic Performance Control driving stack takes driving dynamics to an entirely new level. As the BMW i3 approaches series-production readiness, the test and development team is performing the final fine-tuning of driving dynamics components on the snow-covered roads and frozen lakes of Sweden.

- At first I thought.. My Goodness what is this... But it's kinda growing on me, the more you look at it! Angled screen is weird. Love the back! The front/bonnet should be a little bit lower imo.- It looks disgusting, The proportions are so off, it's so fugly, HOW?!?! there should be a vomit button next to the dislike.
- Yes, they are nailing it! What with the iX3 & now this i3. BMW seems to be getting it's mojo back in the design etc....The front end is very good & the overall look of the car seems just right. Plus the range, charging speeds, interior & that colour blue is gorgeous! What's not to like!!!
