Lotus has revealed a powerful new hybrid SUV in China called the Lotus For Me, and the performance numbers are incredible. With 939 horsepower, a massive 70 kilowatt hour battery, and up to 880 miles of total range, this new version of the Eletre could redefine the hybrid performance SUV segment.

The Lotus For Me plug in hybrid uses a new Hyper Hybrid system that combines a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with dual electric motors. This advanced all wheel drive setup delivers extreme performance while still offering impressive electric driving capability.

One of the biggest highlights is the battery. Unlike most plug in hybrids, the Lotus For Me uses a large 70 kilowatt hour battery that can deliver about 220 miles of electric driving range under the Chinese testing cycle. That means many daily trips could be completed using electricity alone.

When the gasoline engine and electric motors work together, the total driving range increases dramatically to an estimated 880 miles. - I work at lotus Vancouver and we just got this exact car you guys tested in today. Got to drive it around for a while and was pleasantly surprised how dialed it felt especially for a vehicle weighing near 6000lbs. Very exciting. Love the vids.

If they priced this competitive to the BMX iX, Tesla Model X, etc - I think Lotus could have a competitor

- It's not stable at all this car. It's scary. You don't get full power in sport mode. Full power is in track but you can rarely put the power down. Maybe this car has the latest update. It was the only drawback of this amazing. If the traction is available like a porsche it's a bargain

- I don't see this selling well. The demographic of people who buy a luxury EV crossover aren't going to have Lotus brand loyalty, so why would they pay the premium for the marque over cheaper and more established competitors? Shoehorning a mainstream intentioned product into a niche brand's lineup like this seems like more of a desperate marketing grab rather than a step forward for Lotus.

- I have an automotive fantasy. Where I am in a room with the 'designers' of modern cars, sitting around a giant conference room table. I dump a giant pile of fresh horseshit onto the conference table. I instruct 'the designers' to 'get in there' and 'sculpt' something beautiful out of the pile of horseshit. I let them go at it for a couple of hours, and then 'present' their 'design' to me. They have me walk around the 'sculpture' as they go into elaborate detail about this swoosh, or that line, or this accent. At the end of their big presentation I say "It's a giant pile of horseshit". -
This is how I feel about all modern SUV designs. They all look like lumps of horseshit that have been 'sculpted'. Still horseshit. I mean, look at this LOTUS... A LOTUS for christ's sake, historically known for truly sexy designs. But this is a blob, with no rhyme or reason, just random lumps and lines... I'm still looking at it, and I've already forgotten it. It's offensively terrible design.
