INFO
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
a whiplash test performed on a sled.

A series of pedestrian tests is also conducted with different impactors: adult and child head forms and lower and upper leg forms. As well as the AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023, a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.

Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment, including autonomous emergency braking in car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (which encompasses seatbelt reminders, fatigue detection, distraction detection, and impairment detection), lane support, and speed assistance technologies.

- Fair point! Payload’s definitely something to consider for bigger families/groups. The Starray EM-i has a payload of 466kg on each model (GVM - Tare from Spec Sheet). With 4 adults around 90kg each plus a full 50L fuel tank (35kg), you’d still have ~71kg left for luggage etc. It’s tight, but workable for most trips!

- Wish it had the massage seats from the EX5 😫. Also, shame it's not a tad quicker... Was super keen on getting one but these two issues will probably mean I'll pass on it.
- Valid feedback! The EX5’s massage seats are definitely a nice touch. Yeah, with this model, the focus has been more on comfort and economy rather than outright speed/acceleration!
