The 2026 Dodge Charger gets a new twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder gas engine called the Sixpack, and we recently had the chance to drive it on everything from winding rural roads to an eighth-mile drag strip.
The high-output version of this engine goes in Scat Pack variants and makes 550 horsepower.
It delivers refined, modern performance but lacks the deep V-8 rumble of a Hemi engine.
Performance features like Line Lock and Launch Control make fast, repeatable drag-strip runs easy.
Come with us in this review video as Senior Road Test Editor Mike Hanley discusses what the 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sixpack is like to drive, and whether its new engine is a suitable substitute for a Hemi V-8.

- Just so yo all know , I own a real car 67 coronet 500 , all there , big 440 , and not a brick , and yes I have the original 383 , but 440 , and big pistons and crank , make a really big 440 , so no bricks for me i will stick to what works , until I break it and fix it again , bet you cant fix those mew bricks .- Its a brick , a brand new piece of junk , with an engine light on and a dead battery wright , how many times did they change the battery to get it 49 , miles , not impressed , because there bricks .
- They should make smaller v8’s rather than going to v6’s if they want to fetishize emissions management. V8’s just sound so much better
- Costs way to much. I bought my hemi AWD 2013 for $27k brand new the dealer had to order it in, wasn;t even a stock lot car.
Can you show us where the dipstick is to check the oil? OWAIT.
It is truly a shame that the modern technology can't be applied to make a lighter car, or even a car people would really like to buy at a price they could actually pay. Tech should be making things lighter and cheaper, but instead it makes things more bulky/heavy and cost half a mortgage.
