The new Prelude features Honda’s full hybrid e:HEV powertrain. Pairing a 2.0-litre petrol engine with the company’s lightweight dual electric motor automatic transmission, the 184PS (135kW) system offers true driver exhilaration with responsive power delivery, excellent efficiency and superb refinement.

There is also a unique array of drive modes to choose from, which can be used to seamlessly switch between four options at the touch of a button – ‘Comfort’, ‘GT’, ‘Sport’, and ‘Individual' – each of which fine-tunes the characteristics of the hybrid powertrain, suspension and steering response to suit the driver’s needs.

- Second what the guy below said about the lack of a manual. I have a '22 Civic Hatchback with 6MT. In the dealer the other day, a few minutes to kill and wandered into the showroom where there was a '27 version of the same car amongst the big, stupid SUVs. Asked the salesman, did he know the reason why I wouldn't buy the '27 Civic hatch to replace the '22? "Because it doesn't come in AWD?" [Alaska.] "No, because Honda did away with the manual option for this model." [I'm never going to have a Type R or anything close to it.]. Hatchback and manual trans are non-negotiable for me. I would rather have a wagon body, but the 4-door hatchback is the next best. Heard today that Subaru is about to announce a new, affordable hatchback with a manual, and at the same time, reintroduce a manual option in two existing models. The article called it a mindset shift by Subaru, first time in a few years that a manufacturer is seeing the manual as a market niche and a response to demand, and not a liability for them. We'll see how it works out. Mazda still selling the Mazda 3 hatch with 6MT for now. The Civic comes out ahead in design and rear seat legroom. If this type of car isn't available later, I would rather find an old one in good shape and rebuild it, than settle for any kind of automatic. Shift paddles are no substitute -- still have the liability of an automatic -- an expensive repair if it goes south. Before the Civic I had two Fits, an '09 and '18. Now that was a fun car! And practical, with the "magic seats" and humungous cargo capacity. And 40 mpg. Good idea to bring the Prelude back! But not as automatic only. How about a manual option for the HRV? Give the people what they want!

- instead of making the car perform better with more power delivery and driver engagement you instead waste R&D on these mediocre accessories, smh

- The car already cost 50k$. Don't know if I would want a type R version of that if that costs close to a cayman base model

- need more power to justify the price...at least the type r was worth the buy for around 48k not this one

- Think this car will do really well (for its limited segment at least.) There’s a lot of guys on wrong side of 50 with ‘90s nostalgia… but also with arthritic knees and responsibilities who’ve been looking for a practical “sports” car, even if it doesn’t check the boxes for enthusiast, who should be happy cuz they love to complain about cars they were never actually gonna buy anyways 😂
