- I just bought a 2026 Hyundai Kona, the preferred with trend package, here in canada its sort of like a limited model in the US. Smooth ride and lots of features that would cost way above 6000$ more on other makes. Although I"ve had it for a couple of weeks, I would really and honestly recommend it. It has a 2L gas engine, but in combination with the IVT transmission, it really does the job. No need to go into those more expensive 1.6 L turbo engines or hybrids.- Just saw a limited with awd on mybway hike from work and was like dang that’s nice! Then saw it was a Kona. Swore they were much smaller and underpowered but this had a 1.6 turbo so I knew this was an all knew version. This is def on my short list for next year when my current lease ends.
- Excellent overview/review, thanks. I have a 2023 Kona Ultimate. I love the size, leatherette, sound system, and acceleration with the Sport option as well as mileage. The Blue Link is a pain and so is the hatchback release - have to get out of the car. In looking at newer Hyundais, the dealers seem to be pushing the Tucsons (have more of them) plus there are so many Trims most of which seem to focus on cloth seats (ugh).
- That really is a huge improvement over the prior Kona, but I can still hear the awful road noise from the tires. That was a big problem with the previous version. Hyundai really needs to work on better insulating their cars.
- I was leasing a 2019 and 2022 Kona Limited FWD and loved them. When Hyundai redesigned the Kona to look (in my opinion) like a Sherman Tank with those protruding head and tail lights in a boxy design, I thought poorly of that. Then I sat inside one (2024) and felt differently. However, the interior was all black plastic and I didn't like that transmission stalk on the side. Then, I saw the mpg was WORST than my current 2022 Kona! Not to be completely a Debbie Downer, I ended up leasing a KIA Niro EV that gets almost 300 miles per charge and I don't miss driving to the gas stations anymore (home charger). Let's see what happens in 2027 with hybrids (are you listening, Hyundai? A Kona Hybrid?) and the KIA EV3.
