You might primarily see Range Rovers at the mall or idling in front of the valet stands of posh restaurants, but Land Rover's legendary off-road capability means these stately-looking luxury SUVs can venture way off the grid, too. An air suspension provides plenty of ground clearance when needed, and the standard four-wheel-drive system has terrain modes tuned for multiple surfaces.
But even when you're meandering along with the lesser traffic, the Range Rover delights with a supremely plush cabin, a ride that glides over bumps, and a commanding view of the road. There's a wide range of available powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid option with some limited electric driving range. Off-road or on, a Range is a top-shelf pour.
Expert Tip: Due to its combination of off-road capability and high-end interior, the Range Rover has few rivals other than the Mercedes-Benz G-class. The Range Rover gets the edge over the Benz by offering more interior space and an available third row of seats.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Engines: 395-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, 523-hp twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and one electric motor (542-hp combined), 606-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8
Transmission: 8-speed automatic
Drivetrain: four-wheel drive
The Range Rover is available with a quartet of powertrains, starting with a turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt hybrid system dubbed P400 that develops 395 horsepower. During our initial test drive, it proved to be silky smooth and provided adequate pep to tug the large Range Rover around. A 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine—Land Rover calls it P530—is even swifter and cranks up the Range Rover's towing capacity to 8200 pounds.

The Range Rover SUV is like an elegant stately home that's been given a Grand Designs-style makeover. You know what we mean - wet rooms, mood lighting and lots of glass and open spaces all wrapped up in a posh, old-money exterior nestled in beautifully landscaped English countryside.
And like a Grand Designs project, the Range Rover doesn't come cheap. It's a good car - but it's an expensive one, with the cost of a Range Rover starting at a touch over £100,000 and top of the range SV models knocking on the door of £200,000. And that's before you start looking at the options Land Rover likes to charge.
Still, if you are looking at buying a Range Rover or other similar posh SUVs such as the Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes GLS or BMW X7, you won't necessarily be put off by the price.
You could be put off by the car’s size, however. It’s a big car - in fact it’s the first time you can get your Range Rover with seven seats. The car has been around in some shape or form since the 1970s, but this model, released in 2022, manages to hide its dimensions somewhat - it’s a very handsome beast.
It has a sleeker front end than the older model, and its sides are so smooth it looks like it’s been sculpted out of marble. You also get some trick slim-line tail lights at the rear, which are hidden behind some black panelling when the car is switched off. From a design perspective, the changes are more evolutionary than revolutionary, but that’s no bad thing.
The Range Rover interior is pretty slick, too. There’s an all-new large display in the centre console, while the digital driver’s display is clear and shows all the important information. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available, as is Amazon Alexa.

- The exterior is beautiful, except for the turn signals of the rear trunk lid. Design and make it beautiful? They'll buy it anyway! That's why we save money. We remove the buttons from the interior and set the screen to hover - it looks beautiful, but it's cheap for the manufacturer! They'll buy it anyway! With each generation, there are more and more savings in details. But marketing and people's habits are doing their job. While they're buying it.- I'm gonna be happy for a that but nowing that you not going to provide me a that. One of my favorite but e it's fine and is a good car.
- Bottom line on this SVU is it does come with a warranty like all SUV's. You can do what a lot of rich people do and lease it. Keep in mind if you can afford the car note you should be able to pay the maintenance if needed.
- It’s always such a shame I only feel comfortable enjoying the design and the idea of owning one, because these are so beautiful and truly luxurious. Just never see myself actually owning and caring for one of these unreliable nightmare monsters.
- My friend bought it... Well, I month driving, car got broken, 1 month to wait for the parts to arrive to fix the car. Unreliable good looking shit. Another friend bought Discovery 3 few years back. Engine failure, to be replaced. He gave it back to dealer and bought Audi.
